Lyveden New Bield in the North of the county is an unfinished country house in the NE of the county. It was constructed for Sir Thomas Tresham around 1604-05 (around the year of his death), Its not a ruin, per se, as it was never completed. The National trust now ensure its upkeep.

In the song, we have used Lyveden as a metaphor for 'The best laid plans that come to nothing'.
